The Local Organising Committee for the on going National Sports festival says it is hosting the games to consolidate Delta state as the home of sports in Nigeria.
Secretary of the Committee, Chris Anazia said the games has afforded the contingent to showcase thier talents to the delight of thier fans.
“We have won everything needed to be won.We are the most successful team in the history of the Sports festival after lifting the overall trophy a 7 times so this an opportunity for the state indigenes to cheer thier team to success for the first time . Remember we have won it outside Delta so hosting the games now is to consolidate our success story as home of sports in Nigeria.
Anazia who doubles as Director General Delta State Sports Commission said Team Delta will again rewarded at the end of the Festival .
He revealed that the contingent have been in camp training for the games since the last Festival held in Edo state in 2021.
” Sports is part of our culture and that is why we are always encouraging our youths to participate actively in sporting event .
