NSF Delta2022: About 200 Athletes Fight For Medals In Weightlifting

About two hundred athletes will battle for medals in the weightlifting events at the ongoing Delta 2022 National Sports Festival, holding at the Multi-purpose Hall of Orchid Hotels in Asaba, Delta State.

The Technical Director of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation (NWF), Christopher Nwadei, disclosed this in a chat with the media on Monday.

Speaking ahead of the commencement of the weightlifting competition in weightlifting, Nwadei who expressed the federation’s readiness, said that each lifter will be competing for three medals in each event.

“We are good to go and we are going to commence competition by 9:30 am with the 45kg women. And we are expecting close to 200 athletes to compete for medals,” Nwadei said.

“We have done the weigh-in which commenced by 7:30 to 8:30. We are waiting for the competition to kickoff. As it is, each athlete can win up to three medals – three gold, three silver and three bronze medals – will be awarded in each weight category.”

He added that the competition will feature 10 categories each in men and women. The events will be rounded off on Saturday, December 9, 2022 with presentation of medals to winners.
