Nwakali: I Will Support Govt’s Public Welfare Efforts

SD Heusca of Spain midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali has disclosed that he took it upon himself to donate commodities to charity because he wants to support Nigeria’s various governments in their public social welfare efforts across the country.

Speaking against his latest humanitarian effort last week, the former Arsenal youth team player, who captained Nigeria’s cadet national team, Golden Eaglets tro win Chile 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, said government has to be assisted by personalities and groups, because the task cannot be carried by a single institution.

He went on to declare that he also has a big plan opn his mind to float at charity foundation, as he is sold on the idea of putting something back into the society that produced him and helped get fame through football.

The Cupid-faced lad, who previously played on loan at MVV Maastricht and VV Van Venlo of Holland as well as FC Porto of Portugal, before sealing a full contract at Huesca this summer, added that he has a strong desire to help less privileged Nigerian kids grow up and have a very comfortable life in the societies where they grow up.

After visiting a number of hospitals and charity organizations to donate food items and gifts, in the wake of his efforts in helping the under-23 national team, Olympic Eagles, reach the third African U-23 Cup of Nations last Tuesday, Nwakali said he hopes to continue giving something useful back to those in need at any point he is capable of doing so.

The 21-year-old went on with his charity inclinations last week, despite being held by issues of documents on his switch to Spain from England, where he has been sorting our his travel papers as he begins life with Huesca in LaLiga 2, after completing a permanent move from Arsenal.

Nwakali added: “It’s always a thing of joy to help people when you have the capacity and opportunity to do so. I have always wanted to do stuff like this and this is just my own little way of giving back to the people.

“Growing up I realized that the government can’t always cater for the entire people so I feel those of us who have the opportunity can also support them too. Hopefully, soon I will also have my own foundation.”
