The Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Congress have resolved that the 2022/2023 NWFL Premiership League season will kick off on September 14, 2022 across the country.
This was announced in the communiqué of the 2022/2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the NWFL, held over the weekend at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State .
Just like the previous season, an abridged format of two groups A and B of seven teams each, with each of the teams drawing at least one bye. The league will be concluded by the Super Six to decide the season’s champions.
The Congress agreed that the official registration for the NWFL Premiership League season will start on July 4, 2022 and close on August 5, 2022 as no late registration will be entertained.
The Congress also highlighted the importance of club Licensing which would be opened alongside registration of players, adding that the date for the league kick-off would not be postponed.
Meanwhile, Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has commended the NWFL Board, led by Aisha Falode for their giant strides towards the development of Women’s Football in the country and beyond.
