OBA CUP: Competition Committee Boss Tasks Members Towards Successful Organisation

The Chairman of the Oba Cup Committee, Honourable Taiwo Afinnih has charged members to strive to ensure the traditional football fiesta continues to achieve it’s aims and objectives.

Hon. Afinnih, a former Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), made the charge at the inaugural meeting of the committee held in Lagos on Thursday.

He urged the committee to rededicate themselves to the task of ensuring the competition attracts the much needed sponsorship and partnership of corporate Lagos and other sports-friendly organisations.

According to him, adequate financial backing will ensure that the competition achieves one of it’s aims of ridding youths in state of various social vices.
“We need to see this task as an imperative and compelling one as sports has proven to be a veritable tool for curbing societal menace, youth restiveness, drug abuse, cultism, juvenile delinquencies and moral decadence”, Hon. Afinnih.

He enjoined other committee members to use the background in public and private sectors to collectively deliver that mandate.

The Chairman added that he feels compelled and willing to contribute his quota to sports development in Lagos State, while bringing his wealth of experience to bare on the project.

The Committee boss, who is the former Chairman of Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Area, concluded that in a bid to have a seamless operation Sub-committes such as Technical, Marketing and promotional and media and promotional among others must be set up to achieve a successful hosting of the Oba Cup football competition.
