AIK Stockholm of Sweden returnee, Chinedu Obasi (Edu) says he is not holding any misgivings over his chances of playing regularly in the top-flight side, as he believes the club’s high level of competition suits him.
Obasi is in his third stint with Solna, which he joined after a short spell with fellow-Swedish side, Elfsborg, but the former Super Eagles winger says he prefers playing at a higher level.
With that on his mind, the 32-year-old forward, who has also played in Germany and China, is looking eagerly forward to making a huge impact in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
After starring with Elfsborg for four months in 2018, after a botched bid for a deal at Bolton Wanderers of England, Obasi is at AIK till the end of this season, with option of an extension.
He went on to explain that he preferred returning to AIK, because he has a soft spot for the club and they have higher ambitions that he aims to help them achieve.
Obasi expatiated: “I have always had a special bond with AIK and I went to Elfsborg to be able to come back to AIK later.
”My idea was always to play in AIK. If I play somewhere in Sweden it should be in AIK. It suits me better to compete at a higher level.
”It was a good experience in Elfsborg but unfortunately it didn’t go so well. I think AIK is a better place for me.”
