The fourth edition of Obawole Unity Cup Season 4 Football Competition began on a bright note on Saturday 28th of March 2026 with two thrilling encounters at the African Church Primary School play ground at Ifiako Ijaiye.
In the opening fixture between Major Stars of Ward B and Keya FC of Karaole which did not fall short on expectations as Major Stars of Ward B raced into a 2-0 lead in the first fifteen minutes of the game before Keya FC pulled one back to reduce the deficit to 2-1 before the interval.
All efforts to level things up after the half time break by Keya FC proved abortive even after Majors Stars were reduced to ten players following a red card to one of their players Richard number 14 after two cautions, Keya FC still couldn’t find a way through as the encounter ended 2-1 in favour of Major Stars of Ward B who proceeded to the next round.
The thirteen- week tournament which involves the seven Wards and other football Clubs in Ifako Ijaiye LGA and beyond produced another block buster in the second encounter as Ward D and AM FC played out a 1-1 draw with the game decided on penalties in the knockout competition. The match ended 6-5 with AM FC advancing in the tournament played every weekend.

A lot of encomiums were showered on the organisers for their commitment towards grassroots sports development and empowerment particularly for uniting Ifako Ijaiye and creating a platform for the youths to be seen and scouted.
The Major Stars of Ward B coach praised the Obawole family for such a laudable initiative that focuses on grassroots sports development which unites the people and takes the youths off the streets while also commending the sponsors ” Obawole Vanguard” under the leadership of High Chief Prince Quadri Lawal Obawole the Bada of Ota Kingdom whom he said it may be difficult to achieve all these without them.
The winners of the tournament will go home with one million naira while the runners up will get the sum of five hundred thousand naira. There will be awards for the Most Valuable Player, Highest goal scorer, Best goalkeeper, Best Coach etc.
The Competition which had the support of the Executive Chairman Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat (UAH) by providing a soft landing for youth engagements in Ifako Ijaiye LGA.
Representing the Executive Chairman at the event is the Supervisor on Youth and Sport Hon. Oluwaseun Martins Iroko alongside Hon. Shakirudeen Bababunmi the Chairman Sports Committee Ifako Ijaiye LGA.
Other dignitaries present at the opening game are Engineer Alao the Apex Leader of Obawole vanguard, Ibrahim Obawole, Adelani and Akile Of Obawole Kingdom Japasin(JP). Other eecutive members of Obawole Vanguard across Ifako Ijaiye were also present.
