Sweden coach Janne Andersson has confirmed Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s international return at 41: ‘He feels ready and in decent shape.’

The Milan striker has recently returned to action following a knee surgery undergone at the end of last season, following the Rossoneri’s first Serie A title in 11 years.

He has been called up by his national team Sweden for the upcoming matches against Belgium and Azerbaijan.

“Zlatan has made three slightly longer appearances now for Milan and feels ready and in decent shape even though he has been out for a while,” said Andersson after revealing his squad list for the next international fixtures.

“So from that perspective, I think he can add something. Above all on the pitch, but also outside.”

Ibrahimovic had made his international return a year ago, but could not help Sweden avoid a 2-0 defeat against Poland in the Final of the World Cup qualifications play-offs, being introduced with only 11 minutes remaining.

He missed the following matches due to a knee injury which he treated in May 2022 with surgery.

The Swede has collected 68 minutes across three appearances with Milan this season. His contract at San Siro expires at the end of the season.
