New signing at Club Brugge of Belgium, David Chidozie Okereke has been given a symbolic welcome into the team, with a special poster branded with his name and photograph, depicting the determination he is bound to bring into the squad he joined early this week.
The Belgian club quickly rolled out the captivating graphic image of a screaming Okereke to symbolise the zeal he brings into the squad, following his official unveiling in midweek.
The 21-year-old attacker, who caught the eye of Juventus of Italy and Southampton of England, before moving to Belgium, said after sealing his exit from Italian Serie B outfit, Spezia, that he was excited to sign a four-year contract with the club that will feature in the UEFA Champions League in the new season.
After passing a routine medical examination, the product of Abuja Football College began training with the squad on Wednesday, as he sets about preparing to do better than he did last season in Italy’s Serie B.
In his last term with Spezia, Okereke had 10 goals and 12 assists in 30 appearances, which also caught the eye of Sassuolo, Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace but they all missed out on the rising star, who is valued at €10m.
Okereke, who was invited to the Super Eagles for a friendly against Egypt in March, after playing for the under-23 team, Olympic Eagles against Libya, now links up with fellow-youth international, Emmanuel Dennis Bonaventure at Club Brugge’s base camp for pre-season drills.
