….As Gafar Liameed Is Sworn In

The Lagos state Football Association in an extraordinary general assembly held on Saturday at the indoor basket ball court at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos impeached their chairman Oki Fouad and immediately sworn in his former vice, Liameed Gafar as their new chairman.

Oki was booted out on the grounds of misappropriation of funds, high-handedness, gross misconduct, total disregard of critical stakeholders amongst other many breaches levelled against him.

Having read out and quoted sections of their statues that were flagrantly breached and infracted by Oki, a motion was moved for his outright impeachment by the Chairman Badagry division, Dr Osondu Martins which eventually saw 12 out of 12 congress members present at the all-important meeting unanimously voting in favour of the impeachment.

Only two congress members were absent out of the 14 members but the 12 members present were enough to form a quorum and therefore the two absent were not enough to halt the  process.

“It will not be business as usual but it will be business as normal and the way football business should be done”, he concluded.

The extraordinary general meeting had representatives from the Nigeria football Federation (NFF) that monitored the entire process as observers.

The impeachment of Fouad brings to an end the long standing imbriglio that had engulfed Lagos state FA in the last couple of months.
