AS Torino of Italy defender, Ola Aina has admitted that he will have to be at his very best this season with The Maroons, in order to keep his regular spot with the squad in the Italian Serie A.
Aina, who starred for Nigeria en route to winning bronze at the recent Africa Cup of Nations, with a crafty back-heel assist for Odion Jude Ighalo in the opening day 1-0 win against Burundi, is set to have his first full season at Torino, where he first played on loan from Chelsea of England.
His permanent deal in Turin was made possible this summer, after Toro president, Urbano Cairo triggered an option in the defender’s loan deal last season, and Aina says he is delighted to join Torino in a full contract, but admits it is also a call for him to work harder.
Aina told Torino Channel: “I am working hard to be ready when I’m needed. I have to improve in the final phase of the action, and I am convinced that we can succeed.
“Ours is a very strong squad, it will be difficult to find space; but I will do my best to succeed.
“Now we are in Europe and we have deserved it, because to get there we have committed so much and now we want to enter the group phase. Thank you to the club for having exercised the option with Chelsea.”
