Olympic Eagles Maul Sudan 5-0

The national U23 team popularly known as the Dream Team, finally lived up to their name when they defeated Sudan 5-0, in the return leg of the Olympic qualifier as well the African U23 Championship of which they are the defending champions.

The team had lost the first leg in Omdurman, Sudan by 1-0, but the Nigerian side humiliated them in the return leg played at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba, the capital of Delta state, even spelling Sudan in the process. Coach Imama Amakakpabo, refreshed the national team with fantastic players from yonder and it was a sublme Awoniyi, Nwakali and co controlling the game from start to finish.

The U23 national team have now made it to the Afcon  Championship, of which they are the defending championship and there are great hopes that the team will retain its championship status when the tournament kicks off.
