Nigeria’s female basketball team, D’Tigress, has reached the Olympics Basketball quarter-finals for the first time, defeating Canada 79-70 on Sunday.
Although Nigeria lost the second and fourth quarters 23-19 and 24-19 respectively, their decisive win in the third quarter, 23-5, made the difference. The first quarter ended in a tie, with both teams scoring 18 points each.

Ezinne Kalu led Nigeria in scoring with 21 points, while Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah dominated the rebounds with 7. Promise Amukamara recorded the most assists, with 6.
This victory secures D’Tigress a place in the quarter-finals after winning two of their three group games and losing one, having scored a total of 208 points and conceded 207.
