The event, which was held at Aliren Community Hall in Alisimie -Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State, attracted football enthusiasts from the immediate community and its environs.
According to the organiser, Dr. AB, the event was to support and celebrate the players for their efforts in emerging the champion of the community soccer tournament.
The Omeluora of Ukwu- Nzu said that the victory of the team in the just concluded community Soccer fiesta called for celebration, as the team’s performance was highly remarkable as they remained unbeaten throughout the tournament.
He said that despite the fact that he had made numerous other contributions to the success of the team during this year’s edition of the community soccer championship, the reception party and the sum of N300, 000 donation he made to the team for the victory was to motivate the players to improve in subsequent editions of the annual soccer tournament in the community.
While thanking Chief Abraham Chukwuka for his contributions to the team’ s success in the soccer championship , the Captain of the team, Mr Kelvin Onyeisi Chukwuka, recalled that Chief Omeluora had played a significant role in the team’ s success during the community football challenge.
He emphasized that Chief Chukwuka did not only give the players adequate personal motivation to emerge victorious, but also collaborated with other indigenes to promote the team spirit of the players in every area necessary.
.
The captain used the opportunity to call on other indigenes of Aliren Community at home and in the diaspora to emulate the kind gesture of Dr. Abraham Chukwuka for the growth and development of the community in sports and other social cultural activities.
The final match, which was between the defending Champions, Aliogor Community Football Club, and Aliren Football Club( also called Team Aliren) ,ended goalless in the first half of the encounter despite the intense pressure and great ball possession by the Aliogor Players .
The second half of the game was more exciting as Team Aliren was not only able to absorb the pressure mounted by their opponents, but kept forcefully striking from the middle of the center circle , consistently launching aggressive volley shots into their opponents’ vital six yard box.
Fortunately for Aliren FC, one the shots fired on target by Alionye Samuel Nmordi grazed the right pole of the opponents’ goal post, ricochetted before gliding into the net, to help them secure a lone goal victory.
The team was rewarded with a trophy and N600, 000 as the tournament’s star prize, while Dr. Abraham Chukwuka, the Omeluora of Ukwu- Nzu Kingdom, was later appointed as the Grand Patron of the team by the Elders of Aliren Community.
