Omeruo Crosses Fingers Over Leganes Extension

Leganes of Spain defender, Kenneth Omeruo has revealed that he is keeping his fingers crossed on a possible permanent contract wirh the club this summer.

Although Omeruo admitted that officials of the club have sounded him out about the possibility of extending his current loan deal from Chelsea of England into a full contract with Leganes, nothing is concrete yet.

Omeruo, though, confessed that he wants to stay on at Leganes beyond this season, as he is currently enjoying a fruitful spell in the squad and is enjoying regular playing time with Los Pepineros.

Despite failing to make a single competitive first team appearance with Chelsea, which he joined in 2012, Omeruo has excelled under former Southampton manager, Mauricio Pellegrino.

Omeruo has made 22 appearances across all competitions, and is one of the reasons why Leganes are enjoying the best La Liga run in history, as he has helped them to nine clean sheets with him in the starting line-up.

With that in mind, the dark-skinned stopper, who has spent time on loan at ADO Den Haag of Holland, twice at Middlesbrough of England as well in Turkey, where he was once with Alanyaspor and twice at Kasimpasa, is hoping to stay put at Leganes, who have an option to make his current deal permanent at the end of this season.

“Honestly, I want to stay at Leganes. We have not discussed anything yet. We are looking at other options as well. We will see at the end of the season what happens. So, fingers crossed,” Omeruo enthused.
