Onuachu Attracts Summer Attention From Anderlecht

FC Midtjylland of Denmark striker, Paul Ebere Onuachu could become the next Nigerian tom play for RSC Anderlecht of Belgium, as the top club have reportedly launched a late bid to snatch the tall lad away from his present club, ahead of keen interest from Jupiler League rivals, KAA Gent and Club Brugge.

Onuachu has shot to an all-time career high in status, after starring for Nigeria at the recent Africa Cup of Nations, where he even started the Super Eagles’ first match against Burundi, and caught the eye of Anderlecht, who once pad the wages of Stephen Keshi, Chidi Nwanu, Philip Osondu, Celestine Babayaro, James Obiorah, Ezekiel Umoh and Henry Onyekuru.

The 25-year-old Onuachu also proved his mettle at club level with 22 goals in all competitions for Midtjylland last season, such that zeal for his services shot up in Brussels, where The Limburgers made an initial offer of five million euros that was rejected by the Danish side.

However, BT Sports reports that Anderlecht are now ready to hijack the deal to land the Nigerian following injury suffered to Belgian forward, Landry Dimata, who recently made his loan move from VfL Wolfsburg of Germany a permanent one.

Anderlecht have identified Onwuachu as their main target to step in for Dimata and they would look to offload the duo of Ivan Santini and Isaac Thelin to fund the purchase of the towering Eagles’ rookie, who scored 22 goals in 39 league appearances for Danish Super League side last season which earned him a spot with Nigeria’s squad to AFCON 2019, where he ended up winning a bronze medal with the team.

RSC, though, are now in competition with two other Belgian clubs, Gent and Brugge for Onuachu, but have already offered around five million euros for Onuachu, but Midtjylland wants to get the most out of it and hopes for a few million more, following his AFCON elevation.
