Onwuachi Embarks On Coaching Course In Britain

Former Juventus of Italy fringe striker, Benjamin Chukwuka Onwuachi (aka Investment) has begun the process of joining the ranks of Nigerian ex-players turning into coaches or taking technical duties at various levels, as he is currently going through a training programme and course in the United Kingdom.

After the once-vibrant Delta State-born lad failed to take his promising start at Juve into a boisterous career for club and country in the round leather game, Onwuachi is now hoping to do better as a manager.

However, it is not certain which area of specification ‘Investment’ will turn to after his graduation from the football institution in Britain, as he is said to be considering either a role as technical director or a coach.

Other options available to him are trying his hands at teaching football in an academy, running a development foundation, becoming a players’ representative, marketing strategies or consultancy and promotions.

Born April 9, 1984 in Lagos, Chuks, who last played for USD Nerostellati 1910 of Italy, started his career in the youth ranks of AC Reggiana, from which he joined Juventus, but left after just two matches for the first team in Coppa Italia.

He then joined Standard Liège of Belgium, where he spent just a season and moved to Greece in 2006, followed by spells in Albania and Cyprus.

In 2003, he scored a goal for Juventus, who bought him from Reggiana for €420,000 and then went on loan to Salernitana, where he played 18 games and scored six goals.

After failing to play a single game at Liege, ‘Chuks’ moved to Greece for the 2006/07 season, where he starred for Nikaia of Ionikos, after which he ended up playing in quick succession with KF Tirana and APOEL (both on loan) as well as Kavala, AEL Limassol, Panetolikos and Skoda Xanthi.

He also had other loan stints at Iraklis, Oțelul Galați, Salam Zgharta, Panserraikos and Ionikos, before twilight career deals with Aiginiakos, RFC Banneux and Nerostellati.

The petit former striker, who set up a charity home, Gabriella Onwuachi Foundation in honour of his daughter back in 2010, is a product of the famous learning fields at Barrister Churchill Oliseh’s FC Ebedei of Shagamu, the trappings of which he will now bring to bear on his new calling after passing out of his ongoing course in The UK.

This is sequel to a revelation provided by a family source, who disclosed that the fair-skinned fleet-footed lad is now a ‘football student,’ in a chat message that simply stated: “He’s running a football course in uk.”
