Jess Thorup, head coach of German Bundesliga side Augsburg, has praised the impressive debut of their newly acquired midfielder Frank Onyeka.
The Nigerian midfielder delivered a solid performance and provided an assist for one of Augsburg’s goals in their home win against St. Pauli last weekend. Onyeka, who joined the German club on loan from English Premier League side Brentford FC this summer, made his first appearance for his new team after only a few training sessions.
He was outstanding in his debut game against St Pauli on Sunday which they won 3-1.

Thorup in his post-game assessment said of Onyeka, “He only trained twice and was involved in the international matches. From the start, he showed us what a good player he is; he’s ready to help the team, and that is what he did.
“Maybe the only thing missing was the goal at the end, although he had an assist and played very well. For a first game, it was an outstanding game.”
Onyeka, who helped his new club secure their first win of the season after three games, will be aiming for another home victory when Augsburg faces Mainz 05 this Friday in the opening game of Matchday Four.
