Oparanozie Steps Up Efforts As ‘Green Ambassador’

Guingamp of France female team striker, Desire Oparanozie has stepped up her efforts as a ‘Green Ambassador’ for Imo State by appealing to the citizens, visitors and residents across the Heartland region to ensure they maintain clean environments all year round.

This comes barely a month after Oparanozie was officially named an Environmental Ambassador for Imo State by the governor, Emeka Ihedioha, after which she pledged to work hard and help make the region great again.

The 25-year old Imo state indigene, who has won four African Women’s Cup of Nations titles and played at three editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, including this year, when she captained the Falcons to the second round in France, also promised to bring to bear on her post increased awareness gained from her recent surge into social media and human rights issues.

Aside lending her support to what can be termed a ‘green revolution’ in Imo State, Oparanozie has also been outspoken in the call for equal pay of male and female national team players, but some observers believe her recent outspoken stance led to her being stripped off the Falcons’ captain’s for the recent Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games qualifiers, but the team lost out without her.

The former female national team, Super Falcons’ captain added that clean environments help to sustain good health in the community, hence he charge to all Nigerians to watch what they do in their various neighborhoods, where she believes planting vegetation can also boost wellness.

Oparanozie stated in a post: “Keep your environs clean, clean environment is health. Go green stay green. Yours truly Desire Oparanozie, green ambassador. #ImoStateEntraco #Oparanozie #GoGreenStayGreen #ImoState.”
