Oshoala Truly Deserved Best Player Award – Okobi

Eskilstuna United of Sweden midfielder, Ngozi Sonia Okobi-Okeoghene has declared that female national team, Super Falcons’ colleague, Asisat Oshoala truly deserved her award as the best player in Wednesday’s 2-0 win against South Korea at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

Oshoala hit home Nigeria’s second goal of the game in marvelous style, much to the delight of the watching crowd, such that her emergence as woman of the match was not in dispute and Okobi quickly joined fans in adding her own share of accolades to the Barcelona of Spain attacker.

Okobi, who previously played at the 2008 and 2010 editions of the U-17 Women’s World Cup as well as 2012 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup with the Falconets, said she was delighted to see Oshoala get the nod on the rate cards of all match analysts in Grenoble, France.

The former Delta Queens of Asaba, Washington Spirit of USA and Vittsjö GIK of Sweden star, who was part of Nigeria’s winning squads at the African Women’s Championships of 2010 and 2014, as well as runner-up in 2012, also praised the entire Fal;cons for their victory on Wednesday.

She attributed the victory to hard by all the players and Okobi, who also played for Nigeria at the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup, after getting her first senior call up after the U-17 Mundial in 2010, said they are now looking forward to another good outing against France on Monday.

Okobi, who got her first senior goal for Nigeria against Zambia, in a 6-0 win at the 2014 African Women’s Championship, stated on social media: “Hard work truly pays, Congrats @NGSuper_Falcons. Congratulations @asisato1. We look forward to the next one.”
