Victor Osimhen

Victor Osimhen remains in limbo as he awaits his departure from Napoli.

The 25-year-old striker has been training largely on his own at Napoli’s pre-season camp in Castel di Sangro, working out separately from the team both in the morning and evening sessions.

Osimhen is unlikely to feature in Napoli’s upcoming Coppa Italia match against Modena on Saturday.

His preferred move is to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), with whom he has reportedly agreed to a five-year contract worth €14 million annually.

However, negotiations have stalled over the transfer fee, as PSG is reluctant to meet Napoli’s €130 million release clause.

Should the deal with PSG fall through, Osimhen’s alternative option is a move to Saudi Arabia.

Transfer Experts have now suggested that Chelsea interest in Osimhen will effectively end should they sign another striker with Nigerian roots, Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid.

Both strikers have a similar style that Omorodion has even been dubbed ‘The New Osimhen’.

Chelsea are working on a deal to sign Omorodion from Atletico Madrid.

Atletico agreed an £81.5m deal to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez on Monday, and selling Omorodion will help raise funds to buy the Argentine.

It is understood personal terms have now been agreed with Alvarez, who will join for an initial £64.4m, with a further £17.1m in potential add-ons.

Omorodion, 20, joined Atletico last summer – days after making his La Liga debut for Granada, when he scored against the Madrid side.

Atletico immediately sent Omorodion to Alaves on loan, and he scored eight goals in 35 appearances last season.

He is currently at the Olympics and has scored once in Spain’s run to the final.

So far this summer, Chelsea have spent about £115m on midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga and Omari Kellyman, plus goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian and striker Marc Guiu.
