Ozornwafor Wants Home-based In Eagles’ AFCON List

Enyimba of Aba towering defender, Valentine Ozornwafor has made a case for the inclusion of home-based players in the Super Eagles’; final squad to this year’s Africa Cup of Nations. reports that Ozornwafor, who is Flying Eagles’ assistant captain, has been invited to the Eagles’ camp of recent and then lined out for the under-23 team against Libya.

He is now using his personal strides to buttress the quality of players in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), and ends with a verdict that they can excel with the Eagles’ main team at AFCON 2019.

Ozornwafor, who was named to the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations all star team, along with team captain and fellow-Emyimba defender, Ikouwen Udoh Utin, thanked God for the giant strides he has achieved this year.

He went on to use himself as a case study of what home-based players can do and vowed to work hard to earn a regular spot with the main Eagles, if given the chance.

The lanky lad added that he believes many players in the NPFL can also make their mark at the upcoming continental soccer showpiece in Egypt.

“I want to thank God for everything. As a young player, you look forward to an opportunity like this and to excel in future.

“It is important to have a target. I have set a target for myself and will do my best to achieve it.

“I believe other home based players can also prove themselves. We can count on them. They have what it takes to play well.”
