Paris 2024: Reuben leads Nigeria’s last push for a medal

Hannah Reuben will aim to secure a podium finish for Nigeria at the 2024 Olympic Games when she competes in the women’s freestyle wrestling 76kg category today.

In the quarter-final, Reuben will face Mongolia’s Davaanasan Enkh-Amar.

With 87 Nigerian athletes across 12 sports falling short of podium finishes, Reuben carries the nation’s hopes of a medal in Paris 2024.

Despite strong performances from athletes like Tobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Favour Ofili, Blessing Oborodudu, and Odunayo Adekuroye, expectations have not been met at the ongoing games.

Ranked eighth in the world and the reigning African champion in her category, Reuben also secured gold at the 2023 World Military Wrestling Championships, cementing her status as a formidable competitor in her weight class.
