PDP Convention: Makinde, Damagum assure delegates of party turnaround

Oyo State Governor and host of the 2025 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Elective National Convention, Seyi Makinde, alongside factional National Chairman Illiya Damagum, on Saturday appealed for calm among delegates as voting commenced.

The duo made the call while addressing delegates at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Damagum, who acknowledged the late start of the convention, urged delegates to remain composed as they carried out the day’s proceedings.

He described it as an honour for delegates to have travelled from across Nigeria to participate in the convention, noting that their presence reflects their commitment to the party.

The factional chairman also called for peaceful conduct throughout the exercise and expressed appreciation to the National Convention Organising Committee and Governor Makinde for their efforts in ensuring the event was successfully organised.

He acknowledged all the BOT members, governors, leaders and members present at the Convention having arrived since Friday.

He noted that the large turnout and presence of the youths and women at hteh Convention shows that the party belongs to the youths and women, thanking them for coming.

He declared the 2025 Elective National Convention opened.

Makinde assured that the Convention will be remembered as the one that brought about the turn around in the party nationally.

He also urged the delegates to take advantage of the visit to the state to have a feel of the cuisine and hospitality that the state is known for.
