Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro has said he liked the response of his players in the second half following their 2-1 defeat to Mexico in an international friendly in the US on Saturday.
The Super Eagles lost 2-1 to Mexico at the iconic AT&T Stadium.
El Tri took the lead through Santiago Gimenez in the 13th minute before Cyril Dessers headed in the equalizer for Nigeria.
However, the Super Eagles conceded an own goal in the 56th minute, as William Troost-Ekong swept into his own net.
Speaking after the game, Peseiro said at his post-match press conference: “In the first half, Mexico was much better than us. In the second half, I think we had more balance. We had better control of the ball. Our team cannot stay in the game every time but we had much control of the ball.
”In the second half it was much better. We lost and I think Mexico had more opportunities. It was a loss but I am happy with the performance of my players. They showed character because after what Mexico did to us in the first half, we improved much in the second half.”
Peseiro’s men will next face Ecuador in their next international friendly game.
