Plateau United FC 4-1 victors of Al Akhder SC in CAF Confederation Cup playoff 1st leg encounter

Plateau United Football Club on Wednesday November 2, 2022 defeated Al Akhder SC 4-1 in a CAF Confederation Cup playoff 1st-leg encounter.

A Mustapha Yuga headed goal in the 27th minute gave Plateau United FC the lead at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.

Plateau United FC continued to press their Libyan opponents in search of more goals and got due reward when Ifeanyi Emmanuel finished off a cross from Haggai Katoh in the 40th minute.

2-0 it finished at half-time in favour of Nigeria’s Plateau United FC.

Upon resumption for the second half, both sides battled in futility for half an hour in the knowledge of how important the next goal will be to the contest.

Plateau United FC will finally get that decisive goal courtesy of Albert Hilary’s acrobatic effort in the 75th minute to extend their lead to 3-0.

Al Akhder SC pulled one back in the 90th minute but in swift response, Plateau United FC bagged a fourth when Albert Hilary struck his brace.

At the expiration of regulation time, Plateau United FC emerged 4-1 winners over Al Akhder SC of Libya.

The return leg will take place at the Matrys of February Stadium in Benghazi Libya on November 9, 2022.

Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu and his Plateau United FC charges will head into the second leg with a fairly healthy 4-1 aggregate lead from the first leg.

The aggregate winner of this match will join seven others in the group stage of the 2022 CAF Confederation Cup.
