Police rearrest popular singer, Speed Darlington

Date:

Nigerian musician Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri, Imo State.

His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest in a post on his X account on Wednesday morning, stating, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a. AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”

Adeyanju clarified that the arrest occurred during Darlington’s return to Nigeria for a performance.

The exact reason for Speed Darlington’s arrest remains unclear at the time of this report.

This comes just weeks after Darlington was previously detained by the Nigerian police on October 4 for allegedly cyberstalking fellow musician Burna Boy.

He was granted bail and released on October 9 after spending five days in custody.
