Operatives from the Abia State Police Command have seized six stolen SUVs during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Aba, the state’s commercial center.
The operation, led by the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) based in Aba North Local Government Area, was carried out after receiving reliable intelligence.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Maureen Chinaka, the sting operation targeted the Uratta axis of the city, leading to the recovery of the stolen vehicles. Among them were an ash-colored Toyota Camry (Reg No: LSD 885 CX), an Aris red-colored Toyota (Reg No: GDD 254 AA, Chassis No: JTOBT90317113755), and a navy blue-colored Toyota RAV4 (Reg No: AG 743 BRR, Chassis No: JTEGH20V810030195).
Other vehicles recovered, according to Chinaka include a Black-colored Toyota 4Runner, Reg No: ABC 903 BR, Chassis No: ZT3HN86Y0323994, a Toyota RAV4, Reg No: KTU 778 BR, Chassis No: JTEGH20V430090641 and an Ash-colored Toyota Sienna, Reg No: GWB 350 HM, Chassis No: 5TD2A23C45128038, Engine No: 4201838.
Chinaka, who could not confirm the exact number of suspects arrested, revealed that most of the stolen vehicles were taken at gunpoint.
She mentioned that the suspects were tracked and arrested by the RRS team, with investigations ongoing to capture other suspects still at large.
The PPRO further stated, “The public is advised that anyone with valid documentation for the vehicles listed should visit the Command Headquarters for verification and retrieval.”
