Singer Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola was arraigned on Thursday, February 19, at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, in connection with an alleged assault.
The 30-year-old artist had been declared wanted for reportedly assaulting officials from the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA).
He had ignored multiple police summons after the arrest and arraignment of nine of his associates before the same court.
Portable faced a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, restriction, and armed conduct with cutlasses and guns, as well as engaging in actions likely to cause harm.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
On February 6, his nine proteges were arraigned on similar charges.
Following his plea, Portable’s attorney, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, requested bail, assuring the court that his client was “remorseful and had learned his lesson.”
Magistrate O L Oke granted Portable a N2 million bail, with one surety in the same amount.
The case was adjourned to March 5 for further trial.
