President Buhari Declares 12th Nigerian Navy Games Open in Lagos, Commissions Sports Complex

President Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday, at the Nigerian Navy Sports Complex, Ojo in Lagos commissioned some new sports facilities newly built by the Nigerian Navy while declaring open the 12th Nigerian Navy Games.

The new facilities include a multipurpose indoor sports hall, swimming pool and athletics track while the football field was rehabilitated.

President Buhari showered encomiums on the Navy for their investment in sports development, describing the commissioning as a landmark event.

According to him, “sports is a tool that strengthens ties among the troops in the military”

The President then urged them to make good use of the facilities for the discovery of talents for the country.

In his own remarks, the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral AZ Gambo commended President Buhari, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and Sports Minister Sunday Dare for the support given the Navy in building the sports complex.

The Naval Chief highlighted some of their recent strides in sports, assuring that the newly commissioned facilities at the sports complex will be put to good use.

22 events will be competed in at the 12th Nigerian Navy Games with most of them taking place at the newly commissioned sports complex in Navy Town, Ojo, Lagos.
