The Super Falcons of Nigeria battled hard in their first game but lost to the Bayana Bayana of South Africa.

The second half did not provide much excitement either as there were few chances for both sides which proved to be a difficult encounter for both sides.

South Africa however found the breakthrough in the 85th minute through Thembi Kgatlana as they held on for all three points. The result means that Nigeria began their title defence with a loss as Zambia take on Equatorial Guinea in the next encounter.

The Super Falcons take on Zambia in their second group encounter on Wednesday, November 21 at the Cape Coast Stadium.
