Qatar 2022: CAF celebrates as Morocco makes history in win against Canada

Date:

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has celebrated Morocco’s historic feat at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The Atlas Lions finished top of Group F and sealed a place in the Round of 16 following a 2-1 win against Canada on Thursday.

It was the first time the North Africans will make it out of the group stage since the 1986 edition hosted by Mexico.

The former African champions also won two World Cup matches in a single campaign for the first time.

CAF took to social media to celebrate the Atlas Lions.

“For the first time ever, Morocco won 2 #FIFAWorldCup matches in a single campaign. Historic milestone for the Atlas Lions,” CAF tweeted.

Morocco will face Morocco in the Round of 16.
