The Niger State Government has congratulated the State contingent at the just concluded 21st edition of the National Sport Festival, tagged Delta 2022, for winning 14 medals for the State at the sports fiesta in Asaba, Delta State, Nigeria.
The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Yusuf Sulaiman, says the State Government is fully ready to appreciate the effort of the athletes so as to encourage the upcoming athletes in the State.
Sulaiman also thanked the State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, for making it possible by ensuring the athletes get what is needed before and during the festival.
“The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development is up and doing to make the environment conducive for the athletes, just to make sure we stand with them and we did it,” Malam Yusuf Sulaiman said.
“We gave them Ward of encouragement with the support of my strong Team in Asaba we are able to manage and stand on the position of 19 at the festival.”
The Commissioner urged the athletes and stakeholders in sporting activities to continue to partner with the State Government in its efforts to promote sports in Niger State.
The Niger State contingent won 14 medals (3 Gold 6 Silver and 5 Bronze) to emerge 19th position out of 36 States including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The State participated in 19 games at the National Sports Festival.
Team Niger won 3 Gold medals for scrabble, 1 Silver for Athletics, 3 Silver for weightlifting, 1 Silver for Canoeing Royin, 1 Silver for Badminton, 1 Bronze for Boxing, 1 Bronze for Handball, 2 Bronze for Kickboxing and 1 Bronze for Taekwondo.
