Former Super Eagles forward, Julius Aghahowa believes Morocco have been boosted by the win against Spain at the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Atlas Lions stunned the former champions to reach the quarter-finals on Tuesday.
The North Africans won 3-0 on penalties after the game ended in a 0-0 draw.
Morocco earlier recorded a shocking 2-0 victory against Belgium in the group stage.
“It is football. The Moroccan players are ready to play against any team now. It is a massive boost for them (referring to their win against Spain),” Aghahowa told Brila FM.
Next up for the Atlas Lions is the last eight clash against Portugal at the Al Thumama Stadium, Doha on Saturday.
Key stars like Sofiane Boufal and Yousef En Nesyri are currently nursing injuries.
Aghahowa stated that it is important that they recover in time for the clash with La Selecao.
“The Moroccans’ backroom staff need to have the players with knocks recover as quickly as possible before their quarter-final encounter against Portugal,” he added.
“Maybe some of the players did not expect to play in the match (on Tuesday against Spain). Kudos to them for this win.”
