Rangers defeats Sunshine Stars 2 – 0 in Enugu

Rangers International Football Club of Enugu, Wednesday sent the visiting Sunshine of Akure packing by two goals to nil in the Week 28 of the NPFL table.

As Rangers collected the three points, it keeps them first position on the league table with 51 points.

The Flying Antelopes who looked good from the blast of the whistle scored their first goal of the  match in the 44th minutes through a sizzling shot from kalu Nweke.

They increased the tally in the second half through jersey no. 34, Ifeanyi Onyebuchi who sent the goal keeper of Sunshine sprawling through a corner kick.

But for the Sunshine goal keeper who parried a lot of shots, Rangers would have dazzled them with as much as five goals.

Speaking at the end of the encounter, Rangers Technical Adviser, Fidelis Ilechukwu, said that his boys were in top form and would have scored “four to five goals,” he said.

He expressed joy that Rangers have not lost both home and away matches since the return to the second stanza of the league.

Reacting to the defeat of their clubside, Assistant Coach of Sunshine, Julius Kayode said that they lost the match because they missed five of their key players who did not participate in the match.

He said that they had never lost any match in their past six encounters. “We lost the match because we missed some of our key players, about five of them,” he said.
