Inter Miami striker, Luis Suarez, has claimed he almost signed for Real Madrid as a replacement for Karim Benzema.
In an interview with DelSol, Suarez said he chose to join Barcelona instead, scuppering a move to Arsenal for Benzema.
According to him, the infamous bite on Giorgio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup saw Madrid drop interest.

“Before the 2014 World Cup, Real Madrid wanted me as they wanted to sell Benzema to Arsenal.
“Barcelona at the time was [also] interested and Luis Enrique was pressing.
“The bite case happened and Barcelona continued to want to sign me despite the punishment. I will always be grateful for that,” Suarez said.
