D’ Tigers showed strong winning mentality and resilience in their hard- fought 84 -81 victory over their counterpart from Tunisia.
Enterprising Chimezie Metu and Ike Iroegbu scored 17 points apiece, Wes Iwundu added 14, while Uche Iroegbu contributed 13 as Nigeria secured a crucial opening victory in the three-game qualifying window.
Both teams gave their all from start to finish, there was no dull moment, as the court vibrated with different dunking style into the baskets on both sides, but Nigeria stayed firm to secure the win.

With this victory, D’Tigers have boosted their chances of qualifying for the FIBA World Cup and the team will hope to continue their winning form in its next two matches against Guinea and Rwanda.
David Fizdale, the coach of Nigeria has a huge task of making sure D’Tigers flourish in victory in all the threr games of the second window and it is good that Tunisia was done and dusted with a win.
Hopefully, the same winning performance will be recorded against Guinea and Rwanda.
