From ‘magic potion’ milk smoothies laced with spinach and kale, to filtered water and sunlight to boost his circadian rhythm, Erling Haaland leaves no stone unturned in the pursuit of excellence.
But the latest culinary creation from Manchester City’s 52-goal striker has left fans revolted.
The giant Norwegian posted an Instagram snap of a big tray of beef liver after Sunday’s 3-0 win at Everton, which moved Pep Guardiola’s team a step closer to the Premier League title.
Haaland, 22, captioned the picture: ‘That’s bloody lovely!’
But fans weren’t quite so sure, with one on Twitter likening the sliced liver to ‘faeces’ and another calling it ‘disgusting.’
Usually, Haaland posts social media pictures of juicy steaks, oysters, lobster and other appetising dishes – but this time his dinner wasn’t quite as appealing.
Haaland, who joined City in a £51million deal from Borussia Dortmund last summer and has taken the Premier League by storm, has previously spoken of his fondness for liver and cow’s heart.
Beef liver does have high nutritional value because it is naturally high in protein, vitamins and minerals, which aid with tissue repair and energy production.
Showing off huge chunks of heart and liver from the butcher, Haaland said: ‘You [other people] don’t eat this, but I am concerned with taking care of my body.
‘I think eating quality food that is as local as possible is the most important. People say meat is bad for you but which? The meat you get at McDonald’s?
‘Or the local cow eating grass right over there? I eat the heart and the liver.’
6ft 4in Haaland consumes 6,000 calories a day to maintain peak physical condition, which enables him to bully defenders.
In an Instagram video earlier this season, he revealed his secret ‘magic potion’ of milk mixed with spinach and kale.
Haaland’s father Alfie, a former City player, helped his son by milking cows back in Norway and personally delivering the pints.
