With few months to the commencement of Paris 2024 Olympic games in France, a source close to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has revealed exclusively to SportsDay newspaper that the authorities are owing the, Super Falcons coach, Randy Waldrum 7 months salary.
Our impeccable source, who pleaded anonymity, told our reporter that June will make it 8 months that Waldrum is yet to receive any dime and yet they expect optimal performance from the coach.
According to him, Waldrum needs the full support of the NFF to succeed in his job.
Interestingly Waldrum earns just $10,000 before tax which comes down to about 10% of what Jose Peseiro received as coach of the Super Eagles after tax and even that of Finidi George who was given a car and house in Abuja, our source said.
“The NFF is owing Randy Waldrum 7 months salary which to me is unacceptable.
“The Paris 2024 Olympics is few months away which this shouldn’t be the kind of stories we want to hear concerning the women’s national team which will be partaking in the games.
“Honestly that amount shouldn’t be a problem for the NFF to pay as at when due but here we are again to the same familiar old story.
“Infact, this June will make it 8 months that the coach has not been paid”, our source said.

Recall that Waldrum himself granted an infamous interview to journalists shortly before the last women’s world cup held in Australia/New Zealand bemoaning the indebtedness of the NFF to him and his players which caused a stir.
The authorities were seriously irked by the interview which almost cost Waldrum his job but for the superlative performance of the girls who lost gallantly to the Lioness’s of England in the round of 16 via penalty shoot out.
To be fair to Waldrum, the American has helped the country discover many female talents abroad and also convinced many of them to play for Nigeria.
He is no doubt a good coach who understands how to develop and work with female talents.
The NFF has a record of owing coaches including the immediate past coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro who was owed heavily before his salaries were cleared shortly before the Africa cup of nations tournament in Cote d’Ivoire by the Nigerian president.
