Rohr Gets Zinchenko Worry For Ukraine Friendly

Super Eagles’ coach, Gernot Rohr has been hit with a stiff worry to ponder over ahead of his team’s itnernational friendly against Ukraine, as Manchester City of England star, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been named among the players to battle Nigeria on September 10 in Dnirpo.

Zinchenko, who is one of the leading midfielders in Pep Guardiola’s history chasing City squad, is named in the 24-player roster by Ukraine’s head coach, Andriy Shevchenko for the upcoming friendly against Nigeria, which will be preceded by a European Championship qualifier against Lithuania on September 7th.

Zinchenko will be joined in the preparation camp and participation in the two games by two other midfielders based in Great Britain, as West Ham United of England’s Andriy Yarmolenko and Maryan Shved from Celtic of Scotland are also both in Shevchenko’s list of invitees.

The full squad has three goalkeepers, eight defenders, 11 midfielders and two strikers; with the quartet of Yevhen Shakhov, Sergey Sidorchuk, Nikolay Shaparenko and Artem Besedin placed on standby.

The Ukrainians will face Lithuania on September 7 in Vilnius then host Rohr’s Eagles at Dnipro Arena on September 10, ahead of which the goalkeepers expected in camp are Andriy Pyatov (Shakhtar Donetsk), Denys Boyko (Dynamo Kyiv) and Andriy Lunin (Valladolid, Spain).

Also to report are eight defenders: Serhiy Kryvtsov, Mykola Matviyenko, Serhiy Bolbat (all Shakhtar Donetsk), Nikita Burda, Vitaliy Mykolenko, Oleksandr Karavaev (all Dynamo Kyiv), Ihor Plastun(Gent, Belgium), and Eduard Sobol (Bruges, Belgium).

They will be joined by 11 midfielders: Yevhen Konoplyanka (Schalke, Germany), Andriy Yarmolenko (West Ham, England), Ruslan Malinowski (Atalanta, Italy), and Oleksandr Zinchenko (Manchester City, England).

Also among the invited midfielders are Roman Bezus (Gent, Belgium), Maryan Shved (Celtic, Scotland), Viktor Tsyhankov, Vladimir Shepelev, Vitaliy Buyalskyi(all Dynamo Kyiv), Taras Stepanenko, and Marlos (both Shakhtar Donetsk), as well as two forwards: Roman Yaremchuk (Gent, Belgium) and Junior Moraes (Shakhtar Donetsk).
