Roma slap £67million tag on Abraham amidst Arsenal interest

Date:

Roma have slapped a £67million price tag on Tammy Abraham, with Arsenal reportedly interested in the striker.

The Gunners were linked with a move for Abraham last summer, but the former Chelsea man opted to join Jose Mourinho at Roma instead. The 10-cap England international has gone from strength to strength in Serie A, scoring 15 goals in 33 appearances and 24 goals overall.

But it seems Arsenal’s interest in the star has not gone away. And with Mikel Arteta looking to bolster his attacking options in the summer transfer window, a move for London-born Abraham could be back on.

However, the forward’s hefty price could tag prove a stumbling block. Football.london reports that Roma want £67.5million for the 24-year old – the same price as Chelsea’s buy-back option.

Earlier this month, Abraham dropped a huge hint that he could return to the Premier League. He told talkSPORT: “When I see reports linking me with other clubs it makes me feel good, it makes you feel like you’re doing something right.

“It’s a nice feeling seeing your name all over newspapers. But for me, it’s about focusing on doing my business here. I can keep getting linked with many clubs, but who knows what the future holds? Of course, I grew up in England, I’m a London boy. So maybe one day I’ll be back in the Premier League to make noise there.

“But for me right now it’s about focusing on Rome, on doing the best I can and hopefully winning these guys a trophy, which they haven’t done in many years.”

But with his price on the steep side, Arsenal could switch their attention to a move for Manchester City forward Gabriel Jesus, after it was claimed that the Brazilian was open to leaving the Etihad this summer.

Arteta will need to enter the transfer market one way or another, with Folarin Balogun the only striker currently under contract at the Emirates for next season.
