Nigerian striker Sadiq Umar has returned to training at Real Sociedad after 8-months on the treatment table.
Umar suffered a cruciate ligament injury back in September 2022 less than a month after joining Real Sociedad from Almeria.
His transfer from Almeria to Sociedad cost €26m plus-add-ons and a 15 per cent sell-on clause until the 2027/28 season after his 18-goals and 9-assists helped Almeria seal promotion to the Spanish La Liga at the end of the 2021/2022 season.
Two games into his Real Sociedad sojourn, Umar came off with Injury that has kept him out of the season.
A prolific goal-scorer, the 192cm tall Nigerian striker had scored three LaLiga goals already before his unfortunate injury on September 11.
With his recovery and subsequent return to training, Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil will be boosted as the club faces a crucial season run-in.
The club celebrated his return from Injury with a post of the 26-year old getting a guard of honour before a training session.
“What a joy to see you back with the group, Sadiq,” Real Sociedad wrote on their official Twitter handle.
Real Sociedad have four games to the end of the current campaign, Umar will likely get his first minutes after the long spell on the sidelines before the summer break.
