Saka Is Arsenal’s Latest Gem For Future – Keown

Arsenal’s new kid on the block, Bukayo Saka has gained another round of applause from another legend of the London club, as former defender, Martin Keown says the Nigerian-born lad is the The Gunners’ latest ‘unearthed a gem’ and a bright beacon for the future.

Speaking against the backdrop of Monday’s sterling outing by Saka in a 1-1 draw away to Manchester United, Keown said he was impressed seeing the youngster put up a brilliant performance and cap his day with the assist on his side’s equalizer.

He noted further that Saka has cemented his first-team spot at Emirates Stadium, after first signaling his arrival with a goal in the UEFA Europa League, as the 18-year-old fast-rising winger got the assist for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goal on Monday at Old Trafford, where he could have even gr5anned a historic winner had his effort not been deflected.

With many pundits of a view that Saka was more impressive on Monday than The Gunners’ £72m summer signing, Nicolas Pepe, Keown added that the Hale Academy product has shown talent, sills and form that is precocious and well beyond his age, for which he reckoned that the whiz-kid offers Arsenal a lot heading into the future.

Writing about Saka in his column for British tabloid, Deily Mail and online version, Sportsmail, Keown noted the role played by the Nigerian-born youngster to help Arsenal romp back from 1-0 down to force a share of points at Old Trafford.

Keown stated: “The 18-year-old winger caused Manchester United all sorts of problems, and it was his quick-thinking which saw Arsenal leave with a point. The moment Saka picked up the ball after a misplaced pass by Axel Tuanzebe in the 58th minute, he did not hesitate.

“With one touch, he put Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang through. It looked easy, but do not underestimate this pass. It was the earliness of that ball which hurt United. He read the situation.
Harry Maguire was trying to race back because he was playing his opponent onside.

“Saka had to be quick, and he was. He fed Aubameyang, and it became 1-1. Arsenal look like they have unearthed a gem in Saka. He looked like the £72million winger on show. That is not meant as a dig at Nicolas Pepe, their summer signing from Lille, but rather a compliment for Saka. Only a deflection denied him scoring the winner, too. What a talent he looks.”
