Sang Claims Lagos City Access Bank Marathon Top Prize

Kenyan marathoner, Bernard Sang has claimed the 2024 9th edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, beating all comers to the top prize.
Sang coasted to the finish point in an amazing time of 2:16:48 seconds to defeat about 80 other elite marathoners on Saturday morning to win the 42km race that effectively maintained the clear dominance of the East Africans in the history of the international race..
Closely behind Sang were his
compatriots, Silas Cheprot 2:16:63 seconds in second place, Geoffrey Burgen 2:17:42 seconds in third and Edwin Kiptoo 2:19:31 seconds in fourth while Daniel Murdi claimed the 5th position in 2:19:40 seconds.
But it was however an Ethiopian, Hurisa Kenbere who won the women’s top prize with a time of 2:41:01 seconds while Margaret Agai followed closely in second place with 2:41:42 seconds and Cherop Sharon Temtal a Kenyan returned third with 2:42:0 seconds and Guta Alemeneoh Siyun an Ethiopian and Japheth Kosgei of Kenya finished fourth and fifth respectively with a time of 2:43:00 seconds and 2:43:16 seconds.
The winners went home with the grand top prize of $50,000 while second and third got $40,000 and $30,000 respectively.
