Sanusi: Nigeria’s Football Brand Has Improved

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretary-general, Dr Mohammed Sanusi has declared that the country’s soccer brand has improved in recent time, due to decent results enacted by the national teams.

Speaking against the backdrop of the Super Eagles’ qualification for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and Super Falcons recent conquest of the women’s version, Sanusi enthused that the country is back on high.

Sanusi stressed that Nigeria now has a better market value and much improved bargaining power in world football now because success on the field makes the country a big brand.

Sanusi added: “Before now, our World Cup brand partners benefited from the form of the Super Eagles immensely.

“That’s why Nike, for instance, wanted to enter an eight-year deal with the Federation, which was turned down for a four year contract instead.

“The bottom line is simply that, when your teams are doing well, your country becomes a big brand in world football, like the Super Falcons also won the Women’s Nations Cup and qualified for the World Cup.”
