Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has warmly celebrated the return of Super Bowl champion Morotoluwa Ojomo, calling his homecoming a proud moment for both Lagos and Nigeria.

Ojomo, who was born in Lagos before moving to the United States, visited the governor at Lagos House in Ikeja, where he received a heartfelt welcome.

In a nod to Yoruba traditions, Ojomo, an American football star, was photographed prostrating before Sanwo-Olu, a gesture of respect rooted in his heritage, which he shared on his X handle.

Sanwo-Olu praised Ojomo’s inspiring journey from Lagos to the NFL, highlighting his resilience, discipline, and excellence.

“Seeing a young Nigerian achieve greatness on America’s biggest sporting stage is truly inspiring. His visit is a powerful reminder to our youth that with hard work and determination, the world is within reach,” the governor said.

Sanwo-Olu further assured that Lagos would continue to support and celebrate its global ambassadors, ensuring future generations have the opportunities to excel.

Ojomo, a defensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, played a key role in his team’s 40-22 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX on February 9 in New Orleans. His victory has garnered widespread pride across Nigeria, with President Bola Tinubu also hosting him at the State House in Abuja.

At the meeting, Tinubu commended Ojomo for his perseverance and the pride he brought to Nigeria by displaying the national flag at the championship.

“With the kind of focus you have, you can mentor many youths and help develop our culture,” President Tinubu told Ojomo.

Ojomo, who arrived in Nigeria last Wednesday, was accompanied by his parents, Ololade and Bimbo, as well as his sister, Modele.
