Serie A: Napoli’s Osimhen is a player after my heart, says ex-Lazio keeper Ballotta

Former Lazio goalkeeper Marco Ballotta has revealed his admiration for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen sealed a blockbuster €75million move from Lille to Napoli in 2020. However, the 23-year-old striker struggled to hit the ground running because of recurring injuries.

Nonetheless, Osimhen picked form last season, establishing himself as a potent and integral part of the setup at Naples. The former Wolfsburg man registered 18 goals and six assists in 32 appearances for the Naples natives.

This season, the Nigerian hitman has not slowed down. Osimhen has nicked ten goals and three assists in 14 games for Napoli.

Former Lazio goalkeeper Ballotta has been impressed with Osimhen, and he feels the Nigerian striker is the vital component they need to push them to win the Scudetto for the first time in 22 years.

“You can feel it when Osimhen is missing,” Ballotta told Napoli Magazine.

“I really admire Osimhen’s determination, his desire to win, he never stops at nothing, I say he’s a team player, a driver, with the attitude he has, he’s good for everyone. And he is a great finisher.

Osimhen is currently with Napoli in their mid-season training camp in Turkey. The Serie A resumes on the 4th of January, and Napoli’s next game will be a cracker against Inter Milan. Osimhen will look to add to his goal tally when both teams square off at the Giuseppe Meazza.
