Sevilla coach García Pimienta is excited about the prospect of deploying the attacking duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Isaac Romero in his side’s La Liga opener against Las Palmas.
Iheanacho, who joined Sevilla on a free transfer after his contract with Leicester City ended, had a mixed season with the Foxes last term, scoring six goals in 26 matches across all competitions. Despite Leicester’s promotion back to the Premier League, his individual performance was inconsistent.
However, Pimienta is optimistic about the potential of Iheanacho and Romero, who scored four goals in 14 appearances last season. He believes this pair could make a significant impact for Sevilla. Pimienta also emphasized that the team’s defense is well-prepared as he fine-tunes his attacking strategy for the upcoming match against Las Palmas.
“I’m not 100% on the starting line-up,” Pimienta told the club’s media. “ I have an idea in my head. I won’t know until the last moment, people are ready.”
He continued: “ We have almost everyone ready in the defence, I’m not going to make excuses.
“I do see the possibility of playing Isaac and Iheanacho together.
“The ideal position for both of them is up front and we are working on being able to play with both of them, as well as Peque,” he added.
This season, there would be a lot of Nigerian interests at Sevilla with the signing of both Iheanacho and Ejuke Chidera Ejuke by the Spanish outfit.
Incidentally, Nigerians would have the benefit of seeing the Super Eagles stars in the La Liga with confirmation that StarTimes will broadcast all 380 La Liga matches on its Sports Premium channel as well as on StarTimes-ON App and Sports Life.
