Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation at the weekend received a whooping two million naira (N2m) cheque donation from UK/US based Wale Bakare and his friends.

Bakare, who came down to celebrate with his friends, played a novelty match against his old alumni, all in celebration of their alma mater – Command Secondary School, 1991 Set. They partnered with the Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation, which the kids also played a game, but surprised the foundation with the N2m cheque donation which Akinwumi said would go into the education of the children.

The former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) vice president, was full of praises for the benevolence of Bakare and his friends, while thanking them for their uncommon magnanimity.

“We’re grateful to Wale and his friends for their kind gesture.

“This will go a long way in helping in the education of the children.

“If many Nigerians would remember the less privileged  in this manner, the country would be a better place for we all”, he noted.

The event which was held at the Legacy pitch, National stadium, Surulere, Lagos, saw Wale and friends defeating Command ’91 Set 1-0.

The Seyi Akinwunmi Charity Foundation has been in existence since the past eleven years, providing exposure and education to talented youths using football to attract them, while also making them understand that football is not an alternative to education.
