Manchester United teenager, Shola Shoretire has featured for England’s under-15 national team, few months after making history with a place in the records as the youngest player to star in the UEFA Youth League.
Shoretire was named in the starting line-up of The Young Lions, but he could not save them from losing 3-1 to Belgium in an international friendly on Wednesday.
It was back in December 2018 that Shoretire became the youngest player to appear in the UEFA Youth League at just 14 and 314 days , when he was introduced in the 74th minute of the 2-1 win over Valencia.
The Youth League is meant for U19 teams but Shoretire, who is eligible to play for Nigeria, travelled to Spain with Nicky Butt’s squad after the older pair, Mason Greenwood and James Garner joined the senior team.
The U19s were already sure of a spot in the knockout rounds but they finished the group stage unbeaten after goals from Nishan Burkart and Aidan Barlow saw United come from behind to beat Valencia 2-1.
He scored three goals and two assists in his debut for England U15s in their 7-2 hammering of Turkey also back in December.
Shoretire and his under-15 mates trained at the national football centre at Burton upon Trent before the friendly against Belgium.
